HELLO, I AM LAURA!
MSTO GST
Sports and Dance Therapy BSc (Hons) - Sports and Exercise Medicine (MRes)
My career has always centred around movement, rehabilitation and helping people return to the activities they love.
Since 2018, I have been helping people rehabilitate from musculoskeletal injuries and confidently return to their daily activities, exercise and sport.
In 2020, my interest turned towards the young female athlete, particularly the physical changes that occur during puberty and how these can influence movement, performance and injury risk. Through my work as a coach, sports therapist and supporter of women’s sport, I became increasingly aware of the many barriers women can face when it comes to exercise and staying active.
This naturally led me towards women’s health. In 2023, I expanded my practice to include pelvic floor assessment and rehabilitation, incorporating pelvic floor therapy and Mat Pilates to support women in understanding and strengthening their bodies.
In January 2024, I launched my Women’s Health programme, combining pelvic floor therapy and sports rehabilitation to help women experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction regain confidence in their everyday activities and return to exercise.
Then came another very personal chapter in my own journey — becoming a mum. Pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period have given me a completely new perspective on the physical and emotional changes women experience. I’m now navigating this new adventure myself, learning along the way and gaining an even deeper understanding of the importance of patience, strength, recovery and self-confidence.
Today, my work brings together my experience to help women understand their bodies, overcome barriers to exercise and feel strong and confident at every stage of life — whether they are an athlete, returning to exercise after having a baby, managing pelvic floor symptoms, practising Pilates or navigating the changes of perimenopause and menopause.
Professional Areas of Interest
My professional interests have developed through my experience as a therapist, Pilates instructor, gymnastics coach and researcher. I am particularly passionate about injury prevention and rehabilitation, helping people recover from musculoskeletal injuries and return safely and confidently to their everyday activities, exercise and sport.
A key area of my work is women’s health, with a particular interest in pelvic floor therapy and supporting women through different stages of life, including pregnancy, postpartum recovery and menopause. I am also passionate about women in sport and understanding the specific physical and physiological considerations that can influence women’s health, exercise and performance.
Movement and exercise are an important part of my approach, which is why Pilates has become an integral part of my work. I am qualified in Mat Pilates, Pre & Postnatal Pilates and Reformer Pilates, and enjoy using Pilates to develop strength, control, mobility and confidence in movement.
My background in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics also remains an important part of my professional journey. Alongside my clinical work, I have experience in gymnastics coaching and judging, giving me a strong understanding of movement, performance and the demands placed on athletes.
Finally, my interest in Sports Medicine and research allows me to continue developing my knowledge and keep my practice informed by current evidence. I am passionate about combining clinical experience, research and movement to provide an individual and evidence-informed approach to rehabilitation, exercise and women’s health.
